Blabbermouth - Episode 1
by Elle Jordan
Aren’t you cold?
What?
It’s just…
You’re running in just a sports bra.
But oh, it looks sexy...
WTF. Who is this?
Never mind who I am. Let’s focus on you.
Why are you running so fast? And where to?
Think I can catch you?
Ok creeper. I’m blocking you. Bye.
Not so fast.
You really don’t want to block me.
Why not?
Because I know where you live…
And that you’re home alone this week…
With your beautiful baby sister, Cindy.
Stay away from her.
I’m serious - what do you want?
You.
Meet me at the fountain, and I’ll explain my terms.
DON’T tell anyone.
Especially not the police.
And if I don’t come?
Why don’t you ask Cindy?
OH MY GOD!
WHY is my sister tied up like that?!
Because I had to make you listen, Beth.
Look, I’m doing what you want - I’m on my way to the fountain.
Don’t you dare hurt her.
Good girl.
Beth takes out her phone to text one of her best friends.
She hangs with a pretty wild pack of guys,
So she decides to text the most responsible one, Carter.
Carter, I’m in serious trouble - a stranger abducted Cindy!
What?!
Yeah, I have to go to the fountain in the park to negotiate with him.
Jesus! Be careful.
And maybe call the police before you go?
I’m too afraid - he specifically told me not to.
And then he legit sent me a picture of my sister all tied up.
Okay, shit. That IS serious. But we can fix this.
How can I help?
I don’t know. How ‘bout...
If you don’t hear from me in an hour…
THEN call the police.
I have a terrible feeling something bad is going to happen.
Okay. I’ll do whatever you think is best.
But Carter doesn’t waste a second before he texts Rhodes.
If Carter is the most responsible guy in the group,
Rhodes is the strongest, and most athletic.
Shit, Rhodes. Someone kidnapped Beth’s sister.
And now Beth’s meeting the guy at the park.
She insisted on going by herself, but I’m worried about her.
What?! I’m calling the police.
DON’T!
The guy told her not to tell anyone, and we’ve got to listen to him.
I mean, who knows what he’ll do to Cindy if we don’t.
Dude, I’m so glad you told me.
We can’t let her do this alone, so I’m gonna go out there.
Thank God. I was hoping you’d say that.
I want to stay here, so I can be totally available to Beth.
Good idea. Did she say where they’re meeting in the park?
Yeah, at the fountain.
Dude! Isn’t that where our boy Roy embarrassed himself in front of Alice Parker?
Yeah.
It’s so weird how a place that used to be funny is now dangerous.
I know. I used to laugh every time I walked by it.
Yeah, me too.
And now I’m kinda scared to go…
Anyway, I gotta go, so I can sprint there.
The fountain isn’t very far away, so I’ll text you once I’m there.
Okay. Hurry!
Meanwhile, Beth has finally reached the fountain.
She approaches it gingerly, as if someone’s going to jump out and attack her.
But when no one comes up to her, she takes out her phone,
And texts the unknown number.
Hello??
five minutes later
I’m here, you sick freak, and it doesn’t look like you are.
Come out and face me like an adult.
Don’t be testy now, Beth.
I’m running late because I’ve been distracted…
See? I’ve been having a little fun.
Ew - what are those, candles?
Yes. I thought I’d create a romantic atmosphere for her.
You know all about romance, don’t you?
What’s that supposed to mean?
Never mind. All that matters is that pretty soon…
Cindy’s going to love me.
Are you CRAZY?!!
She won’t love you if you keep her bound up like that - she’ll hate you.
That’s not how things seem to be going.
I think she’s growing fond of me.
She’d never like you, you pervert!
You know what? I’ve decided to cancel our negotiation.
Cindy is enough of a prize for me.
And she doesn’t call me mean names like you do.
No! No, please - I’ll do anything.
Anything?
Yes. She’s my sister.
Then keep that mouth shut, Beth.
And meet me at the playground at Green Hills Elementary school.
But it’s abandoned in the summer!
Tsk tsk, Beth. You said you’d do anything.
Fine. I’ll be there.
As Beth races toward the elementary school,
Carter’s phone vibrates with a text from Rhodes.
I just arrived at the fountain.
But look -
I think that’s Beth, sprinting away.
Should I follow her?
five minutes later
Carter?
ten minutes later
Sorry man. I heard this banging noise coming from my garage
And I just got so scared with everything that’s been going on…
So I raced into my bedroom and hid in my closet.
But then, the intruder’s footsteps got louder, like the guy knew where I was in my room.
Holy shit!
I know. And he threw open my closet doors…and…
And it was just Roy.
He came in through my garage because he knew the code and just wanted to hang out, lol.
Dude, are you KIDDING me??
OF COURSE it was him.
We’re the only ones who know how to get in.
Lol, I should’ve known.
You also shouldn’t have been so alarmist.
Our best friend is literally meeting a kidnapper
IN PERSON.
So I’m kinda on edge right now.
Um, we all are…
Yeah, well, all you had to say was, “Roy came over.”
Lol, sorry man.
It’s not funny.
I’m out here, putting my life in danger
While you’re sitting pretty on the couch with our buddy.
Chill out, man.
I am NOT going to chill out.
I’m going to keep following Beth until I know that she’s safe.
So why don’t you and Roy stay in your house - safe - while you can?
But we can’t.
What?
I meant to say, HE can’t.
Roy just left on his bike.
You let him leave?!
Yeah. I didn’t think anything of it.
After I told him about Beth, he said he wanted to go home to his computers.
His computers?
Yeah, he said he wanted to look online and stuff to try to figure out who abducted Cindy.
WTF? That sounds so stupid. He’s not gonna be able to find out.
I know. Probably not.
Shit, I shouldn’t have let him leave.
Now I’m scared, dude.
What if the psychopath gets him?
