Suicide Angels - Episode 5
by Jennifer Park
Hey, Ethan, why did you run off? Was it something I said?
No, I just…I forgot something upstairs.
Oh. Cause it seemed like my name freaked you out.
It’s nothing.
Do you know someone named Ella?
Why would you ask that?
Just a guess. Did she break your heart?
Who are you?
I told you already.
Ethan narrows his eyes and takes a step closer, trying to see past Peyton’s makeup and wig.
I know you. You’re one of Ella’s friends.
Then you can guess why I’m here.
What do you want?
The truth. The reason Ella is dead. Because it wasn’t an overdose.
Ethan glances past Peyton, in time to see the crowd of people part for two cops entering the house.
His eyes widen and he heads for the stairs as Cassie and Kinslee rush down them.
Wait! Just tell me the truth!
Peyton! We found Ella’s dress in Ethan’s room. Ava was there too.
And I called my dad.
Ava was up there? What did she say?
She knows something but won’t tell us. We found a hidden camera—
It has to have something about Ella on it.
A hidden camera?
And a syringe. We think Ella was drugged—
Someone probably made it look like a suicide at her house.
The police are stopped by Mr. Stevens in the middle of the room.
They speak for a moment, and then Mr. Stevens leads them upstairs.
They’re going after Ethan.
You think they’ll finally arrest him?
Let’s follow them.
Did you talk to Ethan again?
Yes, and he figured out who I was, so I kinda hit a dead end.
Where’s your dad, Cass?
He’s coming. But campus police are closer, so he called them to come first.
What’d he say?
I told him about everything we found — and he said it’s worth bringing Ethan in again for questioning.
Well, Ethan ran when he saw the police.
He didn’t even glance at us. He looked totally scared.
He should be. He’s about to pay for what he did.
The girls rush upstairs to find Mr. Stevens and the police beating on Ethan’s door.
Ethan, come out. The police just want to talk to you again.
You know that’s not true.
Don’t make this into something it’s not. We don’t need a scene.
A scene. You don’t want a scene?
Suddenly the door opens. Something flashes in Ethan’s hand.
He lunges at Mr. Stevens.
He’s got a knife!
The police tackle Ethan and place him in handcuffs. Ava rushes down the hall, crying.
Wait! What are you doing?
He’s under arrest. What does it look like?
He didn’t do anything — please!
The police move Ethan down the hallway, and Ava rushes ahead of them.
As they pass the girls, Ethan leans close to Peyton and whispers.
Downstairs. In the locked room—
You need to see what’s inside.
Kinslee, that’s the room we couldn’t get into!
Show me.
The girls hurry downstairs. They find Ava standing in front of the door with a key in her hand.
Ava?
The police are here. It’s our only chance—
For what?
To show them the truth.
What are you talking about?
He’s always watching. We’ve never had the chance…
Who’s been watching?
Ava puts the key in the lock and opens the door. The girls gasp.
Somewhere behind them, an alarm on a phone goes off.
What…what is this?
Proof.
Proof of…
What he’s done.
There are pictures…everywhere. All those girls.
Who are they?
Victims.
Like me. Like Ella.
Whose room is this?
What are you doing?
This is a private room!
Ava spins around, shoving Mr. Stevens back.
Well, now they know! Now everyone knows what you’ve done…
What you did to Ella.
You killed Ella?
Ella overdosed.
Cassie’s father appears at the same time as the cops who are holding Ethan.
You drugged us both! You knew we were onto you for what you did to Ava.
What?
He…he drugged me and—
Raped me.
Ava collapses into sobs.
You’re lying, Ava.
You’re in shock from your sister’s death.
Once I realized what happened, he threatened my family if I told the police. Ella…
I told her to leave it alone. But she didn’t.
Ava, these lies won’t bring her back.
We didn’t know about the cameras — or that he knew we were planning to prove what he’d done.
This whole house is bugged. And he did it.
For safety reasons!
He drugged me too, and then used my car to take Ella home.
On the street camera the driver’s hood was up. Was that Mr. Stevens?
He planned the whole thing and made it look like a suicide.
I couldn’t prove it without risking Ava’s safety. He threatened to kill her if I said anything—
And he already hurt her, so I believed him.
I think we’ve heard enough here.
I’m not a murderer. I didn’t do anything to that girl.
So you have a wall of photos just because? Have you raped all of these women?
Killed them too?
You’re our teacher! You were Ella’s favorite! How could you do this?
The police release Ethan and arrest Mr. Stevens.
Ava, you should have told us.
How could I?
He’d already murdered Ella for trying to prove he raped me. If I went to the police…
It was my fault. Ella tried to distract him so I could get into his room.
Ethan…
No, I should have known he’d figure it out. We thought with her being here…
Since she knew him…we thought it would be a distraction.
But he saw the video on his phone. The door is on an alarm system.
He dragged her in here with me, drugged us, and that’s the last thing I remember.
I knew she didn’t kill herself.
But she’s still dead.
Ella was trying to protect you. She would have done the same for us.
And we would have done the same for her.
I mean, if it’s any consolation, at least now she didn’t die in vain—
Because now everyone will know the truth.
