My New Roommate - Episode 1
by Cade Scott
It’s official…my roommate hates me ☹️
I’m sure that’s not true, honey.
Well, she moved in this morning and didn’t say a word to me…
Maybe she’s just shy.
Going off to college is hard for everyone.
When I asked her how she was, she just stared at me…
Give it time. She’ll open up.
OMG, Mom…
What?!
She’s muttering to herself…
What’s she saying?
I can’t make it out…
Something about a…
Ritual?
Hmm. That’s odd.
Now she’s drawing something.
What is it?
It’s a bunch of circles and strange symbols.
She keeps looking over at me.
Now I’m kind of freaked out.
I can call the housing department. Maybe it’s not too late to move you.
Please call? She just smiled at me.
Well, that’s a good sign!
It wasn’t a friendly smile…
It was like…a threat.
And she said, “Don’t worry, we’ll cleanse you soon enough.”
Mom, I’m scared.
It’s going to be okay, honey. Maybe just try and get some sleep.
I’ll call the University tomorrow.
Okay…
1 hour later
MOM!
What?!
She’s standing over me!
Who?! Your roommate?
YES! I was sleeping but then I woke up to this scraping sound.
I looked up and she was just standing there, holding a pocket knife, staring at me!
You should call campus security.
And get out of there!
Wait…she’s leaving.
Get your stuff and go to your friend Liz’s room!
I’ll call the University.
Weird…
What?
You know how she was drawing something before?
There are more drawings…
Everywhere. Hanging on all of the walls.
And there’s some weird smell…
It’s coming from under her bed…
OMG! There’s a dead animal!
Julie…get out of there.
SHE’S HERE!
She has that KNIFE! It’s BLOODY!
Call out for help!
Hello?!
JULIE??!!
I got away!
She came toward me and she tried to stab me!
But I pushed her away and ran out of the room.
Oh, thank God! Where are you now?
Running for my life!
I’m heading down the stairs.
Yell out for help!
I’m calling 911!
There’s no one around.
Keep going until you find someone!
I hear her!
She’s running after me. She’s two flights up.
She’s yelling something.
Please RUN!
I am.
I don’t know where to go!
Can you find an exit?
I’m still new to this place. I have no idea where anything is.
Just run until you find a door.
I did, but it just led me to more rooms.
Oh, God. I see her behind me.
KEEP RUNNING!
I’m banging on the doors but no one is answering me!
Just get away!
She won’t stop shouting at me.
About the ritual.
Don’t stop to listen! RUN!
There’s a storage closet. I’m going to hide in there.
Where is she now?
Still in the dorm hallway.
I’ll try and wait her out.
I hear her…she’s dragging the knife along the wall…
Stay put! I’m on the phone with the police.
MOM!
She FOUND me!
Julie!!
What happened?!
Did you get away?!
HELLO?!
Local Newspaper, front page story:
Police were dispatched to the local University campus last night at 11:15 pm after receiving several 911 phone calls reporting a disturbed young woman wielding a knife, chasing and harming students.
After arriving on the scene, police spoke to a number of students, many of whom heard screams outside of their dorm rooms — every student was too fearful to leave their room.
Sending uniformed officers into multiple dorm buildings, police quickly located and apprehended the young woman, who did not resist arrest.
After a brief interrogation, the young woman, discovered to be Ingrid Kenson, not even in fact enrolled in the University, admitted to harming several students, and gave officers the location of each victim.
Julie Sundry, a freshman at the University and the perpetrator’s roommate, was found in a janitor’s closet, severely injured but conscious. She was rushed to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Fellow students Maria Parker, Sophia Marks, and Liz Applegate did not survive the attack. We send our thoughts and prayers to their families.
When asked why she made these vicious attacks, Kenson claimed to be sent by her “family,” a well-known cult outside of Iowa, in order to “…cleanse the campus of sinners. Those who engaged in debauchery and sacrilege in the name of ‘the college experience.’”
Kenson will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
