The CEO's Fabulous Ex-Wife - Chapter 301
by Lucia Love
As a woman, she knew that some pregnancies revealed no symptoms until almost the second trimester, but Lucas scoffed.
“If she’s pregnant even now, I’m sure it would be someone else’s child.”
Everyone was shocked, knowing that Lucas wanted a child to claim a bigger portion of the inheritance.
As it stands, he might just be spitting nonsense to prevent Ezra from giving that money to Ethel.
“You will regret this, and don’t tell me that I didn’t warn you,” Ezra said seriously, but it did nothing to move Lucas.
“Ezrah, I know my wife better than you do.”
Ezrah knew it wasn’t true. He could tell a good woman when he saw one, judging from his experiences with Piper and Zora.
He could now detect a cunning woman like a book, but Ethel was not it.
“I have lost my woman before, and trust me, it's true what they say: you don’t know what you have until you lose it,” Ezrah said in a soft tone, hoping to appeal to Lucas’s conscience, but that also did not seem to be working.
“There are many fish in the sea. I have experience fishing and will find a better one.”
He could choose from his numerous girlfriends, so why settle with Ethel? Ezrah wanted to say more, but Zora had had enough.
“So be it. I will have my lawyers help with the divorce,” she said to Ethel before leading her to a corner and speaking in a hushed tone.
However, Ezrah drew close to hear what Zora was saying to his sister-in-law.
“As a woman, I understand what you are going through and will support you with ten million.”
A smile curved Ezrah’s lips. Zora was indeed the best woman for him, and he had no regrets putting everything under her name.
As much as he wanted to help Ethel, he feared creating any emotional connection between them through the help he wanted to give her.
Therefore, with the help coming from Zora, it would go a long way in preventing any kind of emotional attachment or even attracting women to Ezrah, even if Ethel chose to announce it.
“No, no. Please don’t. I will just return to my parents’ house in the countryside. It’s peaceful there,” Ethel refused. Ezrah frowned slightly but did not add his voice to the matter.
“Listen, don’t settle for less because of what life throws at you. The best revenge for scums like him is to come back better. Ezrah needs an assistant. You could as well help,” Zora added, and Ezrah’s frown deepened.
He was thinking of a male assistant and already got someone, so what was Zora doing? Like seriously?
“Did I hear you mention something, Zora?” Ezrah could not keep mute about this one.
People change, so what if the same thing happened with Ethel? It was the reason Ezrah did not even know how to help her, so giving her ten million was enough.
“Come on, Ezrah, don’t you want someone you could trust?” Zora asked teasingly. Ezrah went into thinking mode.
If only he could read Zora’s mind to know what exactly she was up to, his life would have been easier.
“Ezrah, don’t employ her,” Lucas said, but that only made Ezrah upset as he began to guess Zora’s reason for suggesting it.
It was to spite Lucas since they all worked in the same company. “I should,” Ezrah reluctantly agreed as Zora added in a taunting tone, glaring at Lucas.
“Yes, and you could protect her in case a certain scum changes his mind.”
Mr. and Mrs. Gannon were loving Zora even more. Should Lucas want Ethel back, even they would not agree, especially from what Lucas said next.
“Call me whatever you want, Zora, but I will never go back to my shit.”
Zora faced him and said, “Assuming you find out after the divorce that she’s pregnant and the child she’s carrying is yours, you shall have no right to father that child.”
Lucas laughed mockingly. “If it makes you happy, then hear this. If she ever gets pregnant with a child who has my DNA and looks exactly like me, I still do not want anything to do with either of them.”
Zora smiled. “Good. Everybody here is a witness, but we shall equally ensure to add this to the divorce clauses. You shall never have anything to do with her after the divorce, and if she has a child that belongs to you, Ezrah and I would take responsibility for it.”
“You already did enough, Zora. We can take care of the child,” Mrs. Gannon said, adding, “And we shall ensure that our scum of a son never has access to him or her.”
“It’s settled then,” Ezrah said. "The new recruit will be sent to another department, and Ethel will start training next week. I will arrange for accommodation and a car to drop her in and out.”
“And I will transfer some money into her bank account to make her comfortable. She’s still family after all,” Zora added, but Lucas was still unchanged about the events unfolding right in front of him.
Perhaps it was because of that other woman he had among the other women he was sleeping with that he was certain not to regret his decisions.
“You two will regret this,” he gazed at Ezrah and Zora. They were about to respond when Ethan beat them to it, stunning Lucas with his response.
